2 new champions crowned at WXC 35

Tori Music vs. Amanda Cooper
The Main Event at Friday’s WXC35 (Friday Night Fights 2) was definitely 5 weeks in the making for the Ladies Flyweight Title Fight between Amanda “Bobby” Cooper and Tori Music. Cooper went to work right off the get with stunning Music with an over hand right and putting the final touches with a mean right hook sending Music on an unconscious spin to the mat. The time recorded form time keeper John Bond was an 8 second KO, which is now to be proven as one of Michigan’s top Ladies Flyweights. Bobby dropped to Flyweight after having a record of 3-2 as a Bantamweight fighter. Jeff Pitock, Promoter and President of WXC said, ”Her team did a great job with cutting her weight and keeping her fit while doing so and it showed!”  WXC Matchmaker Jamey Dushane said that he already has plans for Bobby’s defend to take place in June in Monroe. “Best part of my job is there is always someone in line to test the ranks,” said Dushane.  She looks to be joined on the June card with teammate and WXC Heavyweight Champion Michael Wojciechowski.  Congratulations to WXC’s New Ladies Flyweight Champion Amanda “Bobby” Cooper.

Mairo Aguilar vs. Lee Burns

The Co. main event started off as a strong and impressive bout between Mario Aguilar and Lee Burns, both fighters bringing great experience to the cage. The fight started off with some outstanding give and take from both fighters all the way till the end of the first round when Burns corner unexpectedly threw in the towel due to a situation regarding his shoulder. WXC paramedics said that the situation that was being described was a dislocated shoulder, but usually the dislocation can be felt. Not finding reason and being uncertain as to how bad the injury was, it was left to his corner to decide. Lee Burns could not proceed to the second round, making Mario Aguilar the new WXC’s Featherweight Champion.

Marcus Maulding vs. Ryan Hazlett
The 2 qualifier fights for the vacant WXC Middleweight belt was short but very sweet. First you had Ryan Hazlett facing Marcus Maulding. Both trading blows like boxers, with Maulding leading the strikes until Hazlett was able to take Maulding down to pull off a rear naked choke submission. Winner Hazlett  2:48 in the first. Next we have Sean Casey vs. PJ Caram. After a few strikes the fight went straight to the ground with Caram in control and dominating the first round all the way. Then with a mad turn of the tides, Casey came out heavy in the second round landing heavy leather and giving him full control, allowing Casey to overwhelm Caram all the way to a rear naked choke submission in the second at 42 seconds. On June 16th we will have the honor to seeing Sean Casey vs. Ryan Hazlett fight for the WXC Middleweight Championship. This was probably the first time I have seen a promotion in a long time have qualifiers the same night determining the next event’s matchups; very impressed!
