Michigan Mixed Martial Artist "Brown vs. Aguilar" To the next level!

"September 7th, 2012 you will see the last Amateur Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight from Deven "BAD NEWS" Brown and the "Infamous Spyder" Mario Aguilar," says Jeff Pitock, President of Warrior Xtreme Championship, a Michigan based MMA promotion. "I am honored to finally say that about both of these great fighters. I have spoken with both these fighter for a few months now in regards to his next level and it's 3 weeks away!"

Brown, a resident of Carleton Michigan and Graduate of Airport High School got into Mixed Martial Arts back in 2009 under Pitock's promotion Warrior Xtreme Championships. When asking Brown, "Looking back on your Amateur fighting career how can you sum it up in a word?" Brown replies, "Family. In the past three or so years WXC has been like a second home. Jeff has been great to fight for and work with. My mother who is fighting a tough cancer battle is my everything and her belief in me is my drive and power from one fight to the next." Fans and friends who support "Bad News" therefore making each show all about family.

"Deven showed potential right out of the gate," says Pitock. Brown for the first year of his career made his way to a flawless record of 11-0 before fighting Ohio's #1 Lightweight Kyle Lingg who was also undefeated at the time 10-0. "I definitely felt like I faced Ohio's best that night. He was one heck of a fighter, a honored loss for sure," says Brown. After that, Brown racked on 8 more straight wins over the states top amateur athletes in his weight class before getting his 2nd loss. "My second loss was to a lessor opponent. He caught me, I shot in and caught his knee for a knockout in his favor. But hey it's MMA anything can happen," says Brown. Brown currently sitting at 21-2 for an amateur record hopes, September 7th, 2012 in Wyandotte, he finishes his Amateur Career at 22-2.

But no simple fight awaits him for sure. He will face Michigan's top Featherweight and WXC Champion Mario Aguilar of Ecorse with a record of 28-6-1. Aguilar another one who started a career with WXC and has powered his way to a great reputation and sound record in Michigan MMA. He too shares the same dream as Brown of making waves in the Professional ranks. "Aguilar and Brown have not ever crossed paths, but it's time," says Pitock. Pitock went on to say, "Mario has been pretty much the only fighter I've seen who is willing to experiment with different kicks and moves in our cage." Both fighters plan on September 7th in Wyandotte being the last of their respected Amateur careers and welcoming the professional ranks.

"It's time that I face Deven Brown. For whatever reasons, this fight never took place in the past, but here it is and I've never been more ready. I look forward to facing that last challenge in my weight class and probably the best in the state at my weight class proving that the "Infamous Spyder" Mario Aguilar is the one to watch out for in the professional ranks," says Aguilar.

"I have been handing out "Bad News" to every credible opponent in my path for over 3 years now as an amateur and I'm ready to start my deliveries in the pros," says Brown. "Not to sure where or when the first professional fight will take place. I'm told it might not be here in Michigan but oh well, I'm ready to take on any and all challenges. But for the moment, everyone reading this interview, get your tickets and get down to Wyandotte September 7th, Mario and myself are going to put on one heck of a final fight!"

The event will take place Friday, September 7th at the Silver Shores Banquet Center at 1 James DeSana Dr. Wyandotte, MI 48192 - fights Start at 8:00pm.

2 new champions crowned at WXC 35

Tori Music vs. Amanda Cooper
The Main Event at Friday’s WXC35 (Friday Night Fights 2) was definitely 5 weeks in the making for the Ladies Flyweight Title Fight between Amanda “Bobby” Cooper and Tori Music. Cooper went to work right off the get with stunning Music with an over hand right and putting the final touches with a mean right hook sending Music on an unconscious spin to the mat. The time recorded form time keeper John Bond was an 8 second KO, which is now to be proven as one of Michigan’s top Ladies Flyweights. Bobby dropped to Flyweight after having a record of 3-2 as a Bantamweight fighter. Jeff Pitock, Promoter and President of WXC said, ”Her team did a great job with cutting her weight and keeping her fit while doing so and it showed!”  WXC Matchmaker Jamey Dushane said that he already has plans for Bobby’s defend to take place in June in Monroe. “Best part of my job is there is always someone in line to test the ranks,” said Dushane.  She looks to be joined on the June card with teammate and WXC Heavyweight Champion Michael Wojciechowski.  Congratulations to WXC’s New Ladies Flyweight Champion Amanda “Bobby” Cooper.

Mairo Aguilar vs. Lee Burns

The Co. main event started off as a strong and impressive bout between Mario Aguilar and Lee Burns, both fighters bringing great experience to the cage. The fight started off with some outstanding give and take from both fighters all the way till the end of the first round when Burns corner unexpectedly threw in the towel due to a situation regarding his shoulder. WXC paramedics said that the situation that was being described was a dislocated shoulder, but usually the dislocation can be felt. Not finding reason and being uncertain as to how bad the injury was, it was left to his corner to decide. Lee Burns could not proceed to the second round, making Mario Aguilar the new WXC’s Featherweight Champion.

Marcus Maulding vs. Ryan Hazlett
The 2 qualifier fights for the vacant WXC Middleweight belt was short but very sweet. First you had Ryan Hazlett facing Marcus Maulding. Both trading blows like boxers, with Maulding leading the strikes until Hazlett was able to take Maulding down to pull off a rear naked choke submission. Winner Hazlett  2:48 in the first. Next we have Sean Casey vs. PJ Caram. After a few strikes the fight went straight to the ground with Caram in control and dominating the first round all the way. Then with a mad turn of the tides, Casey came out heavy in the second round landing heavy leather and giving him full control, allowing Casey to overwhelm Caram all the way to a rear naked choke submission in the second at 42 seconds. On June 16th we will have the honor to seeing Sean Casey vs. Ryan Hazlett fight for the WXC Middleweight Championship. This was probably the first time I have seen a promotion in a long time have qualifiers the same night determining the next event’s matchups; very impressed!

As stated prior, this was an interesting card providing WXC and spectators with a wild assortment of submissions and KO’s. The rest of the cards and fight results are listed below. You can get up to speed at WXCLIVE.com with the next event to be held June 16th in Monroe, MI.

WXC mixes it up with "Dangerous"

Warrior Xtreme Cagefighting (WXC) threw everyone for a loop with its last fight card and the action that the fighters provided. Saturday July 23rd WXC hosted Dangerous at the Gibraltar Trade Center in Taylor, MI. Due to various different events in the area Jeff Pitock and his promotional team managed to draw in 326 spectators. Now you may be thinking to yourself that that’s a low record for WXC.

We caught up with Jeff Pitock, President of WXC, at the show’s first Intermission and asked what his thoughts on the show were. He replied, “Tonight was a challenge for the WXC Team, with the show running smoother than it ever has, which is a plus, but the lack of local talent hindered our attendance, I believe. But hey, I’m proud of myself and our team. We only had 4 local fighters on the whole card and the rest were from other locations, such as Canada, Ohio, Indiana and Northern Michigan. Having 300 fans on such a bad night and having no local talent, we did a pretty decent job. I know for a fact that all promoters in Michigan are not even hitting over 400 fans per show lately. But still, the first 5 fights turned out to be some bangers!”

Jamey Dushane, WXC’s new matchmaker, provided fight fans with a very interesting night of fights. 10 bouts with 7 guys dropping off on the day of the fights doesn’t make for an easy going night, but the match-ups were pretty darn even; some records were a tad off but every fighter came ready to fight and provide fans with a show. I asked Jamey Dushane what his thoughts were on his first fight card as WXC’s new Matchmaker and he replied, “Tough! WXC has had over 30 events and I expected to have it a bit easier than I did. I feel that the fighters are taking some time to see how WXC’s stability is with the removal of the prior Matchmaker and testing to see how I perform, so I really have to gain their trust. I hope the changes that Jeff Pitock and I are making will change some views of WXC and rebuild that partnership that WXC had with many of the fighters and fight teams. I plan to get their trust; I’m a respectful, straight forward guy and what I say is what I do.”

WXC may look to some as they have taken steps back, but I see the next season of new talent knocking at the door for WXC as many of WXC’s prior talent steps into the professional paths of their respected careers. The new batch is getting ready for their stardom within the mega promotional skills of Jeff Pitock and Warrior Xtreme Cagefighting team.

MONROE’S TOP AMATERURS IN MIXED MARTIAL ARTS TO SHOWCASE AT COBO HALL

Description: The start of Warrior Xtreme Cagefighting’s Amateur World Championship tour to start in Detroit, May7th, 2011 at the Cobo Center and Monroe’s top talent is ready.

Monroe, Michigan, April 27th, 2011 – Monroe’s top Mixed Martial Artists will represent the city Saturday, May 7th, as Warrior Xtreme Cagefighting (WXC), Michigan’s #1 promotion, presents “Victorious” at the Cobo Centers in Detroit. This will be the start of their Amateur World Championship Tour, which will take place in 9 different states throughout the country. Many of Michigan’s top talent from across the state are taking part and preparing for their chance at becoming known for being Michigan’s top Amateur Mixed Martial Artist, as WXC plans to show fans why they are the #1 promotion.

Monroe hasn’t had too many female fighters, but Kathleen Albany is just one of a few in the county. Albany, age 18 and a 2010 graduate of Monroe High, was not that competitive in sports, but took her first step in the cage last May after 6 months of training. She took a victory over her opponent 30 seconds into the first round by way of knockout, which also happened to be her birthday. Since then, Albany has had 5 fights and carries a record of 2-3; not the best record, but a well earned one. “She has fought some tough challenges,” says Pitock, President of WXC. “Not too many ladies want to be a part of this sport.” Albany is set to fight challenger Alicia Morrow, from Northern Michigan, who also carries a record of 2-3.

Brad Brown, a 2004 graduate of Monroe High, has been involved with Mixed Martial Arts since 2008. Brown who is a wrestler made an easy transition into the sport. “This sport is fantastic. It gives you as much respect as you give it and I work very hard to get that respect,” says Brown. Brown 8-1 record in Mixed Martial arts is training with Todd Riggs out of Joe’s Boxing. He puts in 2 to 3 hours a day working on his MMA career while also working 2 jobs to support himself. “Brad is a tough but respectful kid. His hand work is truly something to see,” says Riggs. “MMA is not my game, but boxing is, and a boxer can win at MMA with the right discipline 90% of the time.”

Brown is fighting for the WXC Lightweight Championship in the Main Event against undefeated and 4 time champion in 3 different weight classes, Ohio’s top ranked Lightweight fighter in the state and current WXC Lightweight Champion, Kyle Lingg. Lingg carries an unblemished record of 11-0 and just in February made quick work in beating Carleton’s Deven Brown, who was 10-0 record at the time, to gain the WXC gold. “Brad has been waiting for his time to step up and make his mark in the industry and I’m glad he chose this fight to do it,” says Mike Pedenelli, WXC Matchmaker/Partner. Brown was to face Lingg in March, but an injury pushed that fight off to May 7th in Detroit.

Monroe has had a great name in the fight game, starting in boxing and now with MMA. Many of the schools in the county have the best programs for wrestling around the state. Soon as the wrestlers learned boxing it gave you the next breed of fighting talent… Mixed Martial Arts! And here is the talent representing Monroe at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan May 7th 2011.

Tickets for WXC 30 will go on sale Tuesday, April 5th at 10 a.m. ET and will be priced at $25, $40, $60 and $300 Tables (Seats 8). Tickets are available at wxclive.com or by-phone (734-799-1136).

Support the promotions you work with. Fighters and staff!!!

by John Yeubanks on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 10:23pm

I think if you are involved with a show you should promote it to the best of your ability. That means staff and fighters. Fighters you should be telling everyone you know that your fighting. Build a fan base, market yourselves online. There is no reason why you can not get at least 5 people to come and watch you. These shows are expensive, Promoters enjoy giving you a great platform to showcase your talent but you have to get involved to help the show be a success. No promoter enjoys to loosing money.  Take pride in trying to bring the best cheering section you can.

Staff blast the shows you are working for online. Promote the shows that help make you money. That means Reffs, Judges, Announcers, ring girls!!! Everyone should be doing there part to get the word out about shows. People should  invest a small amount of time to make show night be as packed and electrifying as possible.

There is only one way to make shows successful and that's if everyone involved with that show helps put the word out.

Just a thought I had. I ll bet every promoter out there would agree weather they admit it or not.

WXC Flawless Won’t Disappoint

Beth Ann Trent

The card is confirmed, the stage is set, and the fighters are amped for WXC Flawless. The event will take place on February 26, 2011 at the Gibraltar Trade Center in Taylor Michigan. In preparation for the event, 3D Fitness hosted WXC officials and the event’s competitors to conduct interviews in preparation for their fights.

Spectators should expect an exciting night as Rob Durham (9/2) and Rob Taylor (12/2) battle it out both eager to take home the title of Amateur World Heavy Weight Champion. Also, the Light Weight Champion will be determined after what we expect to be a hard fought battle between Deven Brown (10/0) and Kyle Lingg (9/0) since both competitors will be defending their undefeated records. In addition, Jesse Bazzi (4/2) will square off against Michael Jordan (6/3) for the flyweight championship. Unfortunately, the Squire-Townsend and Conradson - Abdullah match has been postponed to the March 19, 2011 WXC event. Despite this delay, Born Fighter is confident that, with such an exciting card, WXC Flawless will be an incredible show.

The match up that I am very interested to see is the Amateur World Ladies Championship between WXC new comer and undefeated Katie “Deuce…Deuce” Dehle and Current Ladies Champion Tasha “Bad Mama Jama” Moore. Those two ladies are going to be in my book, the one to watch!

Aside from the main events, the undercard for this event offers spectators the chance to see many promising fighters who are eager to fight and sure to entertain. Born Fighter spoke with some of these competitors to talk about their expectations for the event.

Gene “Big Country” Romanowski (2/0) is coming off of a first round victory against George “Of the Jungle” Snedden. In his last event, Romanowski devastated Snedden delivering countless unrestrained blows to Snedden’s head resulting in the match being called in Romansowski’s favor. Since then, Romanowski has worked to improve his both his freestyle and ground fighting skills. Romanowski says he feels great about the upcoming event and he is confident he will add another win to his record.

Josh Tipsword (5/5) will be competing against Tyler Pitock in the 185 weight class. Tipsword’s last fight started rough with a display of poor sportsmanship by his opponent, Miguel Garcia, who ambushed Tipsword rather than engaging in the customary touching of gloves to initiate the fight. However, Tipsword managed to catch Garcia in a triangle hold ending the fight by tap out just before the first round bell. Tipsword has trained in Muay Thai, boxing, and recently began training in Jiu-Jitsu to improve his ground fighting skills. Tipsword describes his opponent as sloppy and is optimistic that he will be victorious at WXC Flawless.

Brad Hinderer (2/3) will battle George “Of the Jungle” Snedden who is the current NATO
Super Heavy Weight Champion. This will not be the first time these two fighters have gone glove to glove though their last match resulted in Hinderer overpowering Snedden and taking the win. Since their last match, Hinderer has worked to improve his ground skills anticipating another victory. Conversely, the determined and effervescence Snedden is equally confident in his abilities and looking forward to their rematch.

Born Fighter also had to the pleasure of speaking with upcoming fighters Antonio Gonzales, Kyle Millimen, Hunter Snodgrass, and Chayn Poole. All expressed excitement and confidence for the upcoming event and we look forward to seeing them in the Hexagon!

Watch for these interviews to be posted by www.wxclive.com or go to www.warriorxtreme.com to get your tickets now!
